Frankly, I didn't need MySpace.com to e-mail me on Friday to remind me that my brother's birthday was on Saturday:
It's been over a year since Michael died, and I keep discovering and rediscovering places on the Internet that still think he's alive.
It's jarring and disconcerting. Maybe in a few years, I'll think it's comforting. This year, I didn't.

I came across your comment purely accidentally and I hope it will not offend you in any way that I am posting a reply to your comment.
I just wanted to say that I can only imagine how terribly difficult such 'reminders' must be for you and others in similar situations. My heart goes out to you and I sincerely hope that with the passage of time these incidents will become either less frequent, or as you had mentioned, less painful.
Again, I hope this wasn't crossing an internet boundary line and that I didn't offend you in posting.

Well...it's me again. I guess if I *have* crossed an unwritten internet boundary, I might as well take full advantage of the situation. lol
Seriously, though. Since my original discovery of this memorial blog some 2 or 3 hours ago, I discovered that not only did your brother and I share a love of the author Gerald Kersh (which is how i stumbled in here in the first place) but many other authors and genres as well.
Not only that, it seems we shared the same propensity for the wearing of crazy socks! We also both seem to have walked that thin line between humour-genius and depression-mental illness. That particular commonality I was sorry to learn of.
It seems like your brother Mike was a really great guy. I'm sorry for your loss but also grateful to see that someone so wonderful touched so many lives in the time he did have here.
I hope you don't find it overly odd or intrusive to have someone who didn't know your brother reading these pages. The similarities in our interests and sense of humour compelled me to read on. Most notably his stirring, public rendition of "My Heart Will Go On". I once did the same in the downtown area of my city, however the song in question was "Hooked on a Feeling" and the reaction of my companions was to hide on the floor of the car...wimps. Then once I hit the taxi socks photo...well there was no turning back really.
Ok, now I *know* I must be wearing out my stranger welcome. Striped froggy socks only get me so far, I realize. ;)
